Paul D. Assaiante Tennis Center

Paul D. Assaiante Tennis Center. The Raether Library is visible to the right and Crescent housing to the rear.

The Tennis Center was built in 2010 and provides space for both the women's and the men's tennis teams at Trinity. It contains eight tennis courts and a raised area for spectators, all surrounded by large lights. The center was named after Paul D. Assaiante, coach of the men's squash and men's tennis at Trinity and associate professor of physical education, for his commitment as a longtime coach and friend of the college.

The United States Tennis Association helped in designing the courts; the construction and maintenance of the center cost over $1 million, and donors to the project included Trinity alumni, the United States Tennis Association, and the Hartford Foundation of Public Living.

The courts were built not only to provide high-quality facilities for Trinity's tennis teams, but also provide a space for the Hartford community to utilize. For example, tennis programming was planned with children from the Learning Corridor School.
