The Cesare Barbieri Endowment funds lectures, events, courses, and the publishing of books by and for Trinity's Italian Department. The Endowment also awards an annual grant to a United States citizen for research in Italy. This recipient must present their research at Trinity in the year following their research.

The endowment was established in 1958 by Michael Campo, class of 1948. Campo also established Trinity's study away program at Rome, the Trinity Rome Campus in 1970. A grant from the Cesare Barbieri Foundation allowed him to create the official endowment for Italian Culture at Trinity in recognition of the quality of Italian Studies at Trinity; Italian language and literature had been taught at the college for nearly 100 years by the time this grant was awarded.
