====== Funston Hall ======

Funston Hall is a student dormitory located adjacent to [[smith_hall|Smith Hall]] in the "South Campus Neighborhood," which also includes [[elton_hall|Elton]], [[jackson_hall|Jackson]], [[jones_hall|Jones]], [[summit_suites_east?s[]=summit&s[]=east|Summit East]], [[summit_suites_north_and_south|Summit North, Summit South]], and [[trinity_hall|Trinity Hall]].

The architects for the $2 million dormitory were Kilham Beder & Chu of New York. The general contractor was
The Associated Construction Company of [[hartford|Hartford]]. The dormitory opened in the fall of 1978 with housing for 97 students in 57 single rooms and 10 four-person suites. Students had a direct say in the interior décor of the building through a committee organized by then-director of residential services, Tina Dow. 

Funston was also the first student dormitory in Connecticut, if not in the nation, to be fully equipped with access for persons with physical disabilities. Fixtures in Funston included extra-wide corridors and stairs, wooden guide rails and carpets in the halls, an elevator with Braille buttons, accessible showers and restrooms, and ramp access from the outside.  

In 1982, the [[trustees|trustees]] voted to name the dormitory in honor of former Trinity president [[funston_g._keith|G. Keith Funston '32]].
