Symposiac

One of the College's earliest organizations, the Symposiac existed in the 1870s. In the 1873 Ivy, the Symposiac is listed under “Miscellaneous Organizations” and members are called “Wranglers.” The July 1973 Tablet, however, which names all College organizations, does not mention it at all. “Symposiac” refers to a symposium, or social gathering at which there is an interchange of ideas, which can define many of the social organizations that existed during Trinity's early days.

Currently, little remains known about the group; it was possibly one of the College's literary or secret societies, as both were popular at the time. Some of these societies were organized as anti- or rival existing societies, for socializing and entertainment.
