Trinity Film Society

The Trinity Film Society is a student group on campus which invites those interested in film to put on school events related to film and filmmaking. The Trinity Film Festival is the most notable of these events; others include Moonlight Movies and other special screenings.

The Society was originally formed in 1965 with a focus on promoting film as an art medium and bringing filmmakers together on campus to talk about their work. The Society held its first film festival in 1965 at the Austin Arts Center's Goodwin Theatre, where ten films were selected and shown over the course of several months.

Active until the mid-1990s, the Society officially reformed in 2011, working closely with Cinestudio. Its first public event was a showing of the film “Up in the Air” and its first film festival was held the following year in May 2012.
