The Bliss Boathouse opened in April of 1965, located on Riverside Drive in East Hartford on the bank of the Connecticut River. The Boathouse became home for the crew team's boats and docks; the team had previously been using an old tobacco barn.

The boathouse was contributed by the Friends of Trinity Rowing in order to give Trinity rowers a more convenient location following the sports revival at the college in the 1960s. It was named after Miss Grace Bliss, a supporter of rowing at Trinity and a major donor for the funds needed to build the boathouse.

The boathouse was expanded and updated in 2002 by Friends of Trinity Rowing. The boathouse grew to 14,000 square feet and now houses boats, study rooms, locker rooms, and training machines. Following this expansion, the boathouse was referred to as the Friends of Trinity Rowing Boathouse.
