Fred Pfeil Community Project (The Fred)

“The Fred” is a dormitory located in the Summit East building named after Fred Pfiel. The building is the tallest of the Summit Suites and houses 60 students, with both quads and singles. There is an application and interview process to be accepted to live in The Fred, applications open to to rising sophomores.

The Fred's stated goal is to provide an inclusive space open to the whole campus.Fred members put on events every Friday night that are open to the whole student body to achieve this goal. Events include board game nights, movie screenings, fashion shows, ping pong tournaments and baking. The Fred itself is run by students, and has multiple positions and committees internally that are filled by Fred members.

The Fred was started as a community project in fall of 2006, following the passing of Fred Pfiel in 2005. Pfiel was a professor of English and Film Studies at Trinity. He was known for his open mindedness and dedication to inclusivity and social change, so students named this project after him to continue his legacy and ideas.
