Fred Pfeil Community Project (The Fred)

“The Fred” is a dormitory located in the Summit East building named after Trinity English and Film Studies professor Fred Pfeil. The building is the tallest of the Summit Suites and houses 60 students, with both quads and singles. There is an application and interview process to be accepted to live in The Fred, with applications open to to rising sophomores.

The Fred's stated goal is to provide an inclusive space open to the whole campus. To achieve this goal, Fred members put on events every Friday night that are open to the whole student body. Events include board game nights, movie screenings, fashion shows, ping pong tournaments, and baking. The Fred itself is run by students, and has multiple positions and committees internally that are filled by Fred members.

The Fred was started as a community project in the fall of 2006, following the death of Fred Pfeil in 2005. He was known for his open mindedness and dedication to inclusivity and social change, so students named this project after him to continue Pfeil's legacy and ideas.
