Nest Artists

The Nest Artists showcased and sold artwork in the Raether Library and IT Center during the end of Fall 2022.

The Nest Artists is an organization formed in 2020 by student artists who wished to create an inclusive space for students to gather, create, share, and express themselves in a variety of creative media. The Nest Artists promote and organize art-centered events, and invite others to create in various forms. These include traditional visual works, such as drawing, painting, and digital art; as well as knitting, crocheting, quilting, zines, writing, performances; and audiovisual works, such as original music or short films. The Nest Artists welcome anyone, regardless of perceived level of experience.

The Nest Artists also contribute artwork to enhance college spaces. Neema Kimondo '23, Tiana Sharpe '23, and Kiara Kaltschnee '23 painted an eight-wall mural for the Underground Coffeehouse in 2020, and there are also commissioned murals anticipated for the library, the Charleston House, and La Eracra.

On April 8, 2022, Nest Artists held its first TrinGala exhibition showcase, “a combination of the Met Gala and an art show” in which students could submit works for a chance to win a cash prize, dress in formalwear, and walk the red carpet. TrinGala was themed after Gustav Klimt’s painting The Kiss and was hosted in the Chapel, which was transformed for the event with student art and floral decorations. In addition, 2022 saw the first student craft fair, where Nest Artists displayed and sold artworks in the library, which included completed pieces as well as on-demand commissions.
